J.R. Fennell will give a talk on the history of alcohol and drinking in the state of South Carolina. Fennell, the director of the Lexington County Museum located in Lexington, South Carolina, will describe about the alcoholic beverages that South Carolinians enjoyed in the colonial period through the end of Prohibition and the movement to ban or limit the sale of alcohol in South Carolina in particular. The program will be held in the Museum’s McCown Auditorium.
