The 2018 CCU & OLLI Film Series continues with the locally produced film Profiles in American Character: Robert E. Lee on March 3rd at 1:00 PM. Written and narrated by historian Rod Gragg, this film examines the life of General Robert E. Lee. Lee, who overcame difficult childhood challenges, was considered to be the most capable officer in the United States Army and was offered command of the principal armies of both the North and the South at the outbreak of the Civil War. As president of what would become Washington and Lee University after the war, he was influential in steering the South to reunion and encouraging national reconciliation. He was well regarded by both North and South not only for his military genius, but also for his character.
